Dear Parents, Students, Family Members, and Guardians,
I am pleased to welcome you to the 2017-2018 school year! My name is Ms. Westmoreland and it is my absolute pleasure to be your child’s 4th grade teacher. This is my 14th year teaching. I have taught grades K, 2, 3, and 4th grades. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, a Master’s Degree in Library Science, and a Specialist Degree in Education Technology. I am looking forward to having your child as a student. 4th grade is such a fun year with so many wonderful activities to celebrate! In order to have a fun year, my most important goal is to create a family of learners in my classroom. I am committed to crafting a classroom environment where your child is a valued, trusted, and an integral part of our family of learners. In order to accomplish this, I have planned a variety of activities to emphasize and reinforce this goal. It is my hope that you will support and encourage this vision at home. I love teaching because I care deeply about each of my students. I believe students can grow and develop by examining the concepts we cover in class. The main goal of my class is to encourage every student to reach his or her highest potential. Over the course of this year, we will be covering various standards in all areas of academics that have been set by the state of Georgia. These standards can be found on the county's website at www.cobbk12.org under the PICASSO link. Parents, family members, and guardians are the driving force in their student’s life. I encourage you to show your concern by asking your 4th grader about the school day and making sure assigned homework is completed and returned to school. It is important that you check Class Dojo on a daily basis for homework messages along with other important happenings within the classroom. In addition, the classroom blog includes study guides, pictures, and important websites helpful to your child's learning experiences that he or she may practice at home. The classroom blog address is as follows: http://westmoreland4thgradestars.weebly.com Communication is a huge part of your child’s success. If you ever have any comments, questions or concerns, I am available for phone calls and meetings (by appointment, please) each day before school. You may send me a message via Class Dojo which is the quickest way to get in touch with me. Or contact me via email [email protected] I am excited about assisting in helping your child grow socially, emotionally, and academically during this school year. Again, I welcome any questions or comments, and I am looking forward to a great year! Sincerely, Ms. Westmoreland |
